Originally from Bath in the United Kingdom, Will Fox has a keen interest in educational management, inquiry-based learning and educational technology. For the past 9 years he’s been based in Indonesia with his wife and 7-year-old daughter. He’s excited about his move to Almaty and teaching at KIS with like-minded teachers who share the same vision and passion as him. His philosophy of education encompasses the moral foundations of a supportive team who enrich pupils with personal fulfilment, social and community involvement, and practical wisdom.

Before finding his vocation in teaching, Will obtained a degree in Media Technology at Kingston University and worked as a producer in production houses and advertising agencies in London and Toronto. His passion for education led to a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Nottingham. Will has experience of teaching a range of curricula at different levels, including Checkpoint, IGCSE, A Levels, and the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program. Will enjoys teaching human sciences including Global Perspectives, Social Studies, Travel and Tourism, and Geography. Will also teaches Theory of Knowledge, a subject unique to the IB Diploma. He has also had a number of administrative roles, serving as a Principal for two years, Cambridge coordinator for three years and more recently, Extended Essay Coordinator.

Having enjoyed exploring Indonesia on foot and by mountain bike, Will hopes to do the same in Kazakhstan. Will’s spent a lot of time teaching himself photography and is looking forward to capturing the beauty of Kazakhstan on film. A keen swimmer who enjoys adventure sports such as rafting, kayaking, caving, snorkeling, windsurfing and sailing, he’s also quite a talented chef and enjoys creativity in the kitchen. Will strives to empower students with skills to enable them to succeed in future. He encourages students to show empathy towards each other and understand themselves, promoting confidence, integrity, ability and pride. Through teaching the Humanities he encourages students to care for their environment and societies. He’s honoured to be joining an enthusiastic team and contribute to the bright future of your children.
