At KIS learning is about more than academics. We support your children to become caring, open-minded adults with the skills and qualities they need for life.

The International Baccalaureate programme used at KIS is academically rigorous. The IB is an educational programme for 3-19 year-olds developed by educators to help develop skilled, thoughtful and socially aware young people. The IB Organization (IBO) is a non-profit organisation which is independent of governments, and there are IB World Schools in over 150 countries worldwide. Leading universities around the world seek IB students because they know they will have the academic skills and personal organization required to succeed in their studies. IB students are prepared to engage with the wider world and contribute actively to society.

We are a genuinely multicultural international school. Our students and staff come from over twenty countries around the world, and we have a roughly one-third of expatriate students. We promote international-mindedness and global awareness, while encouraging local action to help our community in Almaty and across Kazakhstan.

KIS is a warm and welcoming community where everyone is valued. We are known for our family atmosphere and the close partnership between parents and the school.  We have family events throughout the year and an active, supportive Parent-Teacher Association. Parents have a voice at board level, too: more than half of our KIS Advisory Board members are parents of former or current students at KIS.

English is the language of communication in the school. Students use English not only in their lessons, but also when socialising with their friends during breaks and around school.
