Shivani is a South African teacher with a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Natal Durban Westville. Her first teaching job was in the rural heart of South Africa, which was a far cry from the big city that she grew up in. This was her first taste of combining her love for teaching with the challenge and adventure of learning about new and different cultures. This is also where she met her husband Peter and since then they have worked in 5 different countries. Shivani has been teaching for 24 years and has taught Middle School English, Grade 2, Grade 1, Kindergarten, Pre- Kindergarten, ELL, Art, and Educational Support. She has a passion for the PYP and enjoys curriculum development and teacher coaching.

Shivani will be moving to Almaty with her husband who is an MYP Individuals and Societies teacher, her daughter Kieran, 16, and her dog Luna. She is excited to learn about Kazakhstan, discover Almaty, and meet new friends. Shivani is a lifelong learner - in Thailand, she learned to eat spicy food and cook, in Taiwan she learned to surf and speak basic Chinese, in Sudan she learned Yoga and horse riding, in Malawi she focused on her Professional development - so she is looking forward to learning how to ski in Kazakhstan.
