1. Where is KIS located? 

We are located on Remizovka, 900m above Al-Farabi Avenue, behind the Villa complex and Lexus showroom. The school is in a quiet and leafy residential neighborhood.

2. What outdoor sports facilities does KIS have? 

KIS has an artificial football pitch, a netball court and a running track, as well as a fully equipped outdoor playground for young children.

3. What indoor sports facilities does KIS have?

KIS has a large, well-equipped sports hall which is suitable for a range of sports, including basketball, volleyball, badminton, futsal and handball, among others. We also have a spacious indoor training room, a dance/martial arts room, and we will soon be adding a weights/fitness training room.

4. Does KIS have a swimming pool?

The Velvet Sports Villa fitness club has a swimming pool just 150m from the school. We can arrange swimming lessons two or three times a week with transportation, as part of our After-School Activities program.

5. What is the ratio of foreign students to local students?

Our intake comprises approximately 35% expatriate and 65% Kazakhstani students. KIS is home to around 30 nationalities in total.

6. What is the ratio of foreign teachers to local teachers?

KIS has 35 expatriate teachers from all over the world, including the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia and the European Union, who work alongside 16 local teachers: a ratio of more than 2:1. All of our academic staff have a formal pedagogical qualification, including our team of nearly 20 Teaching Assistants. 7. What programme does the school follow?  

KIS is proud to be an all-through IB World School, following the framework of the International Baccalaureate and its three programmes for students aged 2-19: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP). The IB Diploma is widely recognised as the leading high school qualification for entry to the world's finest universities. 8. From what age do you admit children?

Children from the ages of 2.5 to 6 can enroll in our Early Years Center. Beyond that, children attend the main school (Grades 1-12). We admit children to Grade 1 from 6 years of age.

Both the Early Years Center and the grade school are on the same campus. We also have an Early Years center at the nearby Edelweiss housing complex (about a five-minute drive from the KIS main campus).

9. Does your school provide a school bus service?

Yes, we have a school bus service, including our famous yellow KIS buses! Routes are designed to be as swift and efficient as possible for all passengers. Every bus has an experienced and careful driver, and a bus monitor on board to ensure the children are safe. 

10. Are meals and school transportation included in the tuition fees?

We provide these services on an optional basis. The cost of school meals and the school bus service are therefore paid separately. 

11. When can students enroll?

tudents can enroll at any time within an academic year. However, students for the Diploma Programme (entry in Grade 11) are strongly advised to enroll before the start of the school year, to ensure the best chance of keeping up with this academically rigorous and demanding course. 

12. How can we get acquainted with the school  - the building, teachers, curriculum etc. - besides your website?

We host Coffee Mornings and presentations for prospective families at different times during the year.We also plan to host Open Days when families can visit the school on a normal school day. 

13. What are the advantages of your school compared to other international schools in Almaty?

We offer a high-quality international education using the prestigious IB framework, leading to the globally recognised IB Diploma.

We have a first-rate team of well-qualified, experienced teachers who are dedicated to the well-being and academic progress of their students.

In December 2018 we moved to a well-appointed new campus, designed by a British architect in accordance with the latest international standards for educational institutions.

Our fees are kept at a highly competitive level compared to other international schools in Almaty, such as Haileybury Almaty and Almaty International School (AIS).
