Elizabeth comes from Wexford, the 'sunny South-East' of Ireland. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in 2013 and has worked as a primary teacher ever since. Elizabeth taught for four years in Ireland before deciding to teach internationally. During her summer holidays, Elizabeth has worked with students with special needs as well as working as an ESL teacher in her home town. She enjoys teaching the IB curriculum and working as part of a multinational community.
Like most Irish people, Elizabeth does not cope well in the heat and prefers winter activities!  She has started learning to ski and enjoys it immensely.  Elizabeth also studies Russian and enjoys reading in her spare time.  She is a member of a Crossfit gym and trains there several times a week, but is not at a competitive level (yet!).  She enjoys travelling and exploring new countries and cultures.  Since coming to Almaty, she has been fortunate enough to visit Bishkek, Dubai, Cairo, Brussels, Bruges, Astana and Shymkent during her time off.  She also enjoys sightseeing closer to Almaty, from the Singing Sands and Charyn Canyon to the many mountains and lakes.  Elizabeth is a big fan of shashlik and plov, and is always searching for new restaurants to try out.
Elizabeth enjoys collaborating with fellow teachers as well as parents, and seeks out opportunities to develop as a professional.  She has recently completed two IB courses, as well as courses on the teaching of reading comprehension, phonics, maths, and assessment.  Elizabeth taught Grade 1 in KIS in 2017-2018 and will return to teach a new class of Grade 1 students in 2018-2019.  She is looking forward to meeting her new students and continuing to work as part of the KIS team!
