Becky Wozny is delighted to join KIS as a Kindergarten Reception Teacher.
Becky grew up in Florida, USA, where she met her husband while both were students in the IB Diploma Programme. She completed her formal studies at the University of Florida, where she received her Bachelor of Education in Special Education and her Master of Education in Early Childhood Education/Early Childhood Special Education.
Traveling became a passion for Becky and her husband, Jay, and they spent time backpacking throughout the US, Mexico, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Desiring a more meaningful experience, they joined the US Peace Corps as sustainable agriculture volunteers in Senegal, West Africa. After 2 years in Africa, Becky and Jay settled in the mountains of Colorado, where they have primarily lived for the past 20 years.
While in Colorado, they welcomed a daughter and a son to their family, fostering a love of nature and adventure. The Wozny family has traveled to over 30 countries, hiking and camping their way around the globe. Becky and her family (including their 2 dogs!), are thrilled to be in Almaty, to explore the area and to be a part of the vibrant KIS community.
Becky has worked as a learning support teacher at the elementary level for over 5 years, and as a multi-age preschool teacher for 6 years. She truly enjoys working with early learners, as they begin their school experiences and develop their spark for learning. She is excited to learn and grow with her students this year.
