At KIS, leadership by example is the expectation. We, as KIS faculty and staff, count it a privilege to model a lifelong love of learning, as we develop and expand our professional skills and knowledge.
KIS is owned by Gateway Ventures, who serves officially as Board of Directors (with Daniel Gunaseelan, as Chairman of the Board) for KIS and is the final authority governing all business operations and academic functions of KIS.
The KIS Advisory Board meets regularly. The Advisory Boards provides advice and direction to both the Chairman of the Board and KIS faculty/staff, helping to shape policy and make decisions. As appropriate, the Advisory Board discusses KIS finances—issues related to significant changes or modifications. KIS also depends on the Advisory Board’s counsel in relation to hiring key people and defining key roles within the school. The KIS Advisory Board is highly valued for their input and counsel as well the time members volunteer to give toward coming alongside the school, in an advisory capacity.
The KIS Senior Management Team (SMT) is composed of senior administrative staff and faculty (heads of departments) who are headed up by the principal of the school. The SMT is the core, decision-making team at the school, responsible for running the day-to-day operations. Each member of the SMT is formally invited, expected to use his/her specific talents and skills to grow and lead the school. The KIS Senior Management Team meets weekly (or more often when necessary), to discuss important issues and make decisions, under the leadership of the school principal.
Global Education, an outside consulting firm, works with the KIS Senior Management Team, helping develop strategy as well as assisting in professional and leadership development. Global Education also does professional assessment and development with all KIS teachers, which has helped KIS create and maintain an environment where everyone on the staff is growing and developing professionally.
