'Every Child Supported'

Student

KIS Student

At KIS every child is supported in their learning and growing - academically, physically, socially and emotionally. We work as a team with parents and students to offer the very best of opportunities for every child.

Our approach is quite simple - students first. By carefully assessing student development, planning with individuals in mind and differentiating learning opportunities we are able to meet our student needs.

Not only do we work to identify individual learning targets for each student to ensure they are working at an appropriate level, we also consider the more holistic needs of each student. The UK government has recently implemented a policy know as 'Every Child Matters'.

This policy targets five outcomes for our students:

  • Be healthy
  • Stay safe
  • Enjoy and achieve
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic well being

These outcomes are a critical part of our approach towards ensuring every child is supported at KIS.

Student Expectations

KIS Student

Our school has a set of specific and high student expectations relating to personal conduct, responsibility, learning behavior, interactions with others as well as levels of achievement in terms of each student's progress across the curriculum. Our students are made aware of these expectations and are assisted in achieving them accordingly.

The expectations woven into all we do include:

  • practicing the 3 C's of courtesy, consideration and cooperation
  • always striving to be better than before
  • endeavoring to take responsibility for our own learning
  • developing independent work habits
  • being able to work individually and within a group
  • demonstrating respect for others - students, staff and community
  • ensuring no one ever feels bullied
  • practicing safety in all situations including: the classroom, the playground, the community, when using the internet
  • taking pride in personal presentation
  • meeting obligations such as homework requirements, club and training commitments
