At KIS, communication and understanding are highly valued. We appreciate your interest in our school and we are committed to providing the best understanding of who we are, what we strive to do and how we hope to achieve our goals. Please take some time to find the answers to some common and frequently asked questions.

  • How long is a school day at KIS?
    • The school day at KIS begins at 8:30 a.m. when the bell rings and students must be in their assigned homeroom to start the day.
    • The school day is finished by 3:10 p.m. Any after school activities begin at 3:15 p.m. and finish by 4:15 p.m.
  • How will my non-English speaking child manage in an English-medium international school?
    • Very well. Fortunately, children are resilient and can quickly adapt to a new language and culture when they are welcomed into an inviting and supportive environment. Most KIS classrooms include several non-native English speaking students.
    • KIS provides English as a Second Language programs, designed specifically for each individual student’s needs. Intensive programs are designed for new students, to help them establish an English base in order to function well inside their classrooms.
  • How do I know my child’s specific needs will be met at KIS?
    • This is at the heart of the KIS mission—each child’s individual design and needs matter.
    • Our teacher to students ratio allows our teachers to give the attention necessary to each student, assessing needs and developing the best program for that child.
    • KIS places a high value on our family-oriented environment and this reaches into the classroom where your son/daughter feel supported and understood.
  • Is financial aid available toward the cost of tuition at KIS?
    • Generally, no, KIS does not provide any official financial aid.
    • Need is assessed on an individual basis, however, by KIS management and the KIS Advisory Board.
  • Can my child join KIS mid-year?
    • Most definitely. KIS welcomes new students throughout the year.
    • All-school events, inviting all KIS parents and students, are planned throughout the year, providing many opportunities for our KIS families to connect and support one another.
  • How does my child get to and from school?
    • KIS provides van drivers—private businesses—for picking up your child and dropping him/her off at home.
    • Otherwise, transportation to and from school is your responsibility.
